Description:
This session introduces counselors to the growing phenomenon of gaming addiction, providing an understanding of its impact on mental health, relationships, and daily functioning. Attendees will learn how to assess and treat gaming addiction using evidence-based interventions tailored to clients of all ages.
Objectives:
- Define gaming addiction and distinguish it from healthy gaming behaviors.
- Review current research on the psychological and social impacts of gaming addiction.
- Learn assessment tools and screening methods for identifying gaming addiction.
- Apply evidence-based interventions for addressing gaming addiction in a therapeutic setting.

Parsons Counseling Training Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7101. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Parsons Counseling Training Institute is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Cancellations with 14 or more days' notice will receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations with less than 14 days' notice will not be refunded. A 50% credit towards a future trainings may be applied at discretion of the training coordinator. Bundled or discounted registrations are non-refundable.

Dr. Jeffrey Parsons is a licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor (LPCC-S) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a wealth of experience in the field of counseling. He holds a bachelor's degree in Family Sciences from Brigham Young University, an M.S. in Community Counseling from Portland State University, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Parsons has been employed at Lindsey Wilson College for the past nineteen years, where he has worked extensively with students from the Appalachian mountains of eastern Kentucky. He has also served in several other roles at the college, including Director of Program Evaluation and Technology for the School of Professional Counseling, Director of Teaching and Technology Effectiveness for the Office of Academic Affairs, and Director of the Counselor Education & Supervision program.
