Play Therapy History Training

WITH HANDS ON INTERVENTIONS

This virtual/on-demand training offers an overview of all the Seminal Theories and Historically Significant Theories.  Along with learning the theories, there will be hands-on interventions related to most theories for a deeper understanding of how to incorporate the theory while working with clients. The training will address the founders, the theories, what makes them unique, the strengths and limitations of each theory, the treatment approaches, and practical application. Several art and play therapy interventions will be discussed.  This training includes PowerPoint, video clips, and experiential exercises and meets the APT Play Therapy History requirements for those pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss each of the Founders of play therapy and their significance/contribution to play therapy
  2. Explain what makes each theory unique and significant
  3. List the strengths and limitations of each theory
  4. Identify your role as a counselor regarding diagnosing, treatment approaches, and family  involvement
  5. Describe how to use a play therapy intervention for each theory

 



Who Should Attend:

Play Therapists, any mental health professionals, teachers, guidance counselors, parents, anyone who works with children and teens, and those who work with and/or live with children with special needs.

Skill Level:

This program is appropriate for professionals of beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels.

CE Offered: 

Continuing education credit for this event is sponsored by Parsons Counseling Training Institute. This program offers a total of 6.00 NON-CONTACT CE hours. The CE processing fee is included with registration for counseling and Play Therapy.

Cancellations with 14 or more days' notice will receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations with less than 14 days' notice will not be refunded. A 50% credit towards a future trainings may be applied at discretion  of the training coordinator. Bundled or discounted registrations are non-refundable.

Lisa is certified in the following:EMDR, AutPlay, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Hypnotherapy, and Theraplay Level One. Lisa is TF-CBT Trained with supervision and Gottman Level 2 Trained. Lisa is also the proud owner of Parsons Counseling & Play Therapy Center located in Berea, KY and Richmond, KY. Lisa specializes in working with children through adults with emphasis on attachement, trauma, and strengthing families.
